#High-income countries are countries with GDP per capita being higher than the world’s average GDP per capita at the same time of comparison. Based on the GDP per capita income data compiled by the United Nations Statistics Division, it can be seen that the world's #GDPpercapita is constantly changing. In 1970, the world's GDP per capita was 925 USD and there were 55 countries and territories with incomes higher than this value. After ten years, there were 61 countries with GDP per capita being higher than 2,777 USD, the world’s GDP per capita at that time. In 2000, to be considered as a #high-incomecountry, the average GDP per capita of certain countries must exceed 5,476 USD, 67 countries and territories being considered as high-income countries this year. After 20 years, the number of high-income countries has only increased by six, but mostly from the formation of new countries due to the disintegration of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. By 2020, to be considered as a high-income country, the average GDP per capita must exceed 10,953 USD, double that of the previous 20 years and 78 countries have income levels higher than this threshold.
